Contact Your Lawmaker

Civic engagement doesn’t end on Election Day – in order to make sure that your representatives are representing you, they need to hear from you throughout the year. Call or email your city council people about keeping the library open later, or your state representatives about funding immigrant integration, or your federal representatives about comprehensive immigration reform. It’s more important that you make the call than if you’re perfectly polished – we learned in 2006 that anti-immigrant calls outnumbered pro-reform calls 20 to 1. That can’t happen again this year!

And remember: as public servants, they work for you.
