Education Organizer - Habla Español

Maribel Montes De Oca is a first generation US American Citizen, first generation high school graduate, and first generation college graduate. Daughter of two immensely hard working padres Mexicanos who moved from Michoacán, Mexico in the early 80s with her two oldest siblings to Washington State. Maribel is a recent college graduate from Western Washington University where she studied law, education, leadership, and teaching English.  During her undergraduate career Maribel enjoyed the immense privileges to travel, work and study abroad in Mexico, la Republica Dominicana, and Cuba. Her higher education experience would not have been a possibility if it wasn’t for the immense support and discipline she received from her communities in the Center for Education, Equity  and Diversity, Not1moreDeportation, Community to Community, Familias Unidas por la Justicia and her diverse familias. Maribel is driven and inspired by the communities that she has come from and the communities that she meets. With a passion for equity, critical analysis, collaborations, travel, and storytelling Maribel plans to continue to work with the Fortaleza and work ethic that her familias lead with. As an education organizer Maribel plans to continue to plant and develop her passions in education and working with her communities.
