OneAmerica's 2019 Annual Celebration: People Like Us

Friday, April 5th, 2019

Reception: 5:30 pm
Program: 6:30 pm
The Westin, Seattle

With OneAmerica leading the way, people like us have created a movement to claim and embrace our power – in our local communities, leading our organizations and businesses, and in our government. When people like us stand together, we build power. That means people power, power in our ideas for a better world, and the power of organized resources. That’s what the OneAmerica family of organizations is all about, and that’s what our OneAmerica community joyously works for. Join us for a night to celebrate people like us, all we’ve accomplished, and everything we will accomplish together.

For almost two decades, we have worked to ensure that immigrants and refugees have a seat at the table – or a microphone at a rally in the street – to help shape the policies that impact our communities. And on Friday, April 5th, our communities will take the stage to describe the power and triumph of their struggle.

OneAmerica welcomes Enrique Cerna as our emcee for the evening, who will be introducing our dynamic performers: Naomi Wachira, Tiwanna Kenney, and our dance party DJ, Jenn Green.

Aneelah Afzali, executive director of the Muslim Association for Puget Sound’s newly-launched American Muslim Empowerment Network (MAPS-AMEN), will be giving an inspiring keynote on the power of immigrant communities.

Important Information for Attendees:

  • On the night of the Celebration, use the hashtag #OACelebration and #PeopleLikeUs to share photos!
  • Getting there – It’s easy to get to the Westin on planet-friendly public transportation. You can also park on the street, in nearby parking lots, or at the Westin valet.

Looking forward to seeing you!
