In 2025, we will come together and demonstrate our power. We’re going to build a thriving home for everyone in Washington State, no matter where they were born or what language they speak at home. We won’t go back to just defending past victories because together, we can fight for what we need and win.
Washington State’s legislative session begins on January 13, 2025. To build a thriving home, join us to take action, share your stories, and demand more for our communities alongside us.
This legislative session we’ll be fighting to:
- Create a wage replacement program for undocumented workers and expand our social safety net to include everyone, regardless of their immigration status.
- Fund critical services and programs we need by enacting progressive revenue to create a more fair tax system and ensure the wealthiest people in Washington pay their fair share.
- Expand the Washington Voting Rights Act to reduce racism and bias in our election system and expand language access.
- Ensure asylees receive the support they deserve by securing $61 million in Washington’s budget to the Department of Social and Health Services to allow for subgrants to community organizations supporting asylees across the state.
- Pass a budget centered on immigrant justice that includes maintaining funding for our Washington New Americans Citizenship program, funding for dual language learning programs, funding for Fair Start for Kids, funding for legal defense for immigrants, funding for Health Equity for Immigrants, and more.
NOTE: This is not a complete list of all the policies OneAmerica supports this legislative session. We will also be supporting others such as Unemployment Insurance for Striking Workers, Job Security for PFMLA, and more.
