Build with us.
When we invest in people in our community, we create powerful change for all. OneAmerica volunteers support English language learners, partner with immigrants and refugees on their path to citizenship, register voters, advocate for policy and elect powerful leaders.

Become A Leader
OneAmerica immigrant and refugee leaders organize and advocate for policies that improve our lives, elect people like us into powerful positions and work together to create powerful change. Leaders will:
- Build your leadership through training on issues, organizing skills and civic education.
- Be a part of a growing, joyful and powerful community of immigrants like us.
- Create powerful change, a more representative democracy and a just education and immigration system.
English Language Learning
We are always looking for individuals who can support students and teachers in our English Innovations program (currently offered remotely). This is great opportunity to build your leadership through training on issues, organizing skills and civic education as a part of a growing, joyful and powerful community of immigrants like us. Plus, strengthen your own teaching and language skills.
- Attend class online at least one day per week.
- Provide small group facilitation support during breakout activities & discussions via Zoom and WhatsApp.
- Support teachers with specific in-class tasks as-needed.
There may also be opportunities to assist with digital literacy & tech support and/or work one-on-one with students outside of class, per request. The volunteer commitment is at least one class session (1.5 hours) per week for the duration of a 10-12 week course.
Washington New Americans
Volunteers for Washington New Americans are a critical part of our program, powerfully assisting community members in achieving their dream of citizenship and deepening their own understanding of the citizenship process. Volunteers host more than a dozen citizen application assistance workshops statewide each year. Whether you are an immigration attorney, a paralegal, a law or paralegal student, an interpreter or a general member of our community, you can help!
Support Civic Engagement
When immigrants and refugees vote, we show our power. Join us in registering community members to vote and working to engage our community in issues that matter most to them!
“OneAmerica staff makes it very easy to volunteer due to being an excellent organization. I feel my time is very well spent. I know how valuable this service [Washington New Americans Program] is, and how expensive and out of reach private legal services are for many, many immigrants.”
